Easy Thin-Sliced Chicken Breasts are juicy, flavorful and perfect for salads, wraps, sandwiches, tacos, or as a low-carb meal.

Over the summer, I placed an order for grocery delivery and ended up with a package of thin-sliced chicken breasts by mistake. I decided to toss them in a simple marinade, then grilled them. The result was juicy, flavorful, and far exceeded any expectation that I had!

For whatever reason, I assumed that thin-cut chicken couldn’t possibly be as juicy and flavorful as regular cut chicken breasts, but I was wrong. All summer long I have been coming up with recipes with thin-cut chicken and I’m so excited to share them with you.

Today we are starting with the basics – how do you cook thin-sliced chicken? I’m including instructions for you to grill or bake this easy chicken recipe. How you decide to use the chicken is entirely up to you! Are you feeling like a salad? Maybe a wrap or tacos? There are so many options and none of them will let you down.

Let’s get cookin’! – Ashley ❤️

Why You’ll Like Cooking with Thin-Sliced Chicken

If I had to use two words to summarize why you’ll like cooking with thin-sliced chicken, it’d be QUICK and EASY.

  • Thin-cut chicken cooks much faster than regular chicken breasts which makes it perfect for those busy weeknights.
  • Versatile – I have used thin sliced chicken in recipes all summer long, from tacos to wraps and salads
  • Meal prep – along the same lines as versatility, this works great for meal-prepping for the week.

Ingredients

Most grocery stores sell chicken breasts that are sold already thin-cut. I generally buy Perdue Fresh Tin Sliced Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast, but there are a variety of brands that sell chicken already thin-sliced.

To make this recipe, you’ll need:

  • Thin-sliced chicken breasts
  • Italian dressing – whatever your favorite brand or recipe is. The Italian dressing is used to marinate the chicken.

Grilling Instructions

Easy Grilled Chicken is always a win and grilling thin-sliced chicken is one of my favorite ways to prepare it. Here is a brief overview of how to grill thin-cut chicken:

  1. Prepare the chicken – trim any excess fat. Then arrange the chicken in a single layer in a baking dish OR place it in a resealable bag.
  2. Marinate – add 1.5 cups of Italian dressing. Cover or seal the bag, then marinate from 30 minutes or up to 4 hours. Flip the chicken halfway during the marinate process.
  3. Grill – preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade then grill for 4-5 minutes per side or until the internal temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees F.
  4. Rest and serve – allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Baking Instructions

If you do not want to grill, you can bake thin-sliced chicken. Here is a brief overview of how to do that:

  3. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  4. Bake – arrange the chicken in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake for 12-18 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees F.
  5. Rest and serve – allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Thin-sliced chicken breasts can vary in thickness, so it is best to cook until the internal temperature of the chicken has reached 165 degrees F, and not a specific time.

Recipes with Thin Cut Chicken

Baked or grilled thin sliced chicken can be used in a variety of ways. I like to chop it up after it has been cooked and then use it all week long.

  • On a salad – top it with my favorite Homemade Ranch Dressing!
  • Tacos – or quesadillas!
  • Sandwiches – place grilled chicken on a sandwich roll, then top with BBQ sauce and provolone cheese. So good!
  • Wraps – I love to use this chicken in a chicken Ceasar wrap!
  • Meal prep – store in an airtight container and use throughout the week with steamed veggies and rice or quinoa.

Tips for Juicy Thin-Sliced Chicken

  • Use a meat thermometer – this is the best way to ensure that you do not over or under cook chicken!
  • Marinate – marinating chicken enhances the flavor and helps to prevent it from drying out while it is being cooked.
